|Chateau Mourgues du Gres Les Galets Rouges|
A fine Syrah from the Costieres de Nimes. Gorgeous aromas of blackberries, lavender & black pepper. Medium to full-bodied, very supple & juicy with ample black cherry, blackberry fruits and plenty of Provencal character. There is a freshness, focus and energy to these classic Rhone flavours that make for such thrilling wines.

Chateau Mourgues du Gres
"One of the most impressive estates in the Costières de Nîmes; a treasure-trove of value-priced wines…"
Robert Parker. The Wine Advocate.
A winding road meandering alongside the slopes of the "Costières" leads you to the picturesque Chateau Mourgues du Gres & its beautiful vineyards in the midst of orchards and garrigue.
As a young man; wine maker Francois Collard moved away to Bordeaux to work at the world famous Chateau-Laffite in the Medoc. In 1990, he returned to the family estate with a dream of making the best wines in the region.
I first came across the wines of Chateau Mourgues du Gres seven years ago at a wine tasting at the fabulously situated wine college built into the rock besides the Gardon river in the shadow of the Pont du Gard, the famous ancient Roman Aquaduct bridge.
The numerous small vineyards are scattered in and around the village of Beauclair - said to be the gateway to Provence.
The three wines that make up our offer all show bags of bold, sun-kissed Rhone flavours along with a purity & freshness that make these wines so gourmand & delicious.
